Biography
Isaac Lottman (2003) is a Dutch cellist born in Amsterdam who began playing the cello at the age of two. He received his first lessons from Atie Aarts. He has also been taught by Charles Watt & Monique Bartels. At 13, he enrolled in the Sweelinck Young Talent Academy under the guidance of Monique Heidema. In 2020, he commenced his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he began lessons with Pieter Wispelwey & Maarten Mostert. He is now in his third bachelor year with Pieter Wispelwey and also has had many lessons with Dmitri Ferschtman. He has had masterclasses with Gary Hoffman, Anastasia Kobekina, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Jeroen Reuling & Matthias Bartolomey.
In 2019, he won first prize at the Britten Competition, followed by second prize at the National Cello Biennale Competition in 2022.
He enjoys performing chamber music as the cellist of the Fontana Quartet, a dynamic ensemble that will go on their first tour in Portugal in March 2024. Additionally, he has performed solo recitals and concerts with orchestras at venues such as the Muziekgebouw and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, as well as internationally on multiple intercontinental tours.
Instrument
Isaac plays a cello crafted at the school of Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, paired with a bow made by Eugene Sartory. He is grateful for the opportunity to play this instrument since 2022, both of which are owned by the Conservatory of Amsterdam and will be available for his use until the completion of his bachelor's degree in 2025.
